Employees with more than 3 years service can take an unpaid break of up to 90 days to do something special.

In conjunction with Sodexo who manage “Childcarepass”, News International offers a flexible and tax-efficient way for its employees to meet the cost of childcare through the provision of childcare vouchers.
Commuter Loans
News International offers an interest free loan scheme to reimburse commuters who have purchased an annual season ticket. The scheme provides up to a £5,000 tax-free loan in any one tax-year.
Counselling Service
There is a 24-hour telephone counselling service offering free advice, which is available to all staff via the Legal Expenses Insurance helpline.
Dentist
A dentist comes to Wapping twice a week for private consultations and treatment.
Eye Care Plan
Employees habitually using Display Screen Equipment are entitled to a free optician's eye test. Employees may be entitled to free glasses under the Company’s Eye Care Scheme.
Health Screening
Available to all employees after 6 months. Screenings for spouses available after 3 years service.
Health & Wellbeing Centre
Open 9–5 pm, Monday to Friday. The centre is staffed by Occupational Health advisors.
Legal Advice
Solicitor available in person or phone every Tuesday to give free preliminary advice on all legal matters.
Legal Expenses
Covers legal costs you might incur either in defending or making a claim.
Life Assurance
There is life assurance cover of one year's salary for all employees who die while in service. This entitlement increases for 4 x salary for employees who join the News International Pension Plan.
Long Service Awards
Gift vouchers presented after 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years’ service. From 1 January 2010, everyone with 10 years' service and above will benefit from additional leave in their anniversary year.
Maternity Leave
Minimum of 26 weeks ordinary Maternity Leave. Extra 26 weeks for employees with at least 26 weeks service. Employees who have been with NI for at least 1 year at the start of leave, or who have returned to work for at least 1 yr since the end of previous leave, are entitled to be paid for 18 weeks at full basic salary.
On-site Parking
Employees have the opportunity of parking their cars onsite.
Paternity Leave
Employees employed for 26 weeks or more have the right to take either 1 or 2 consecutive weeks leave. Employees who have been with the company for at least 1 year at the start of their leave, or who have returned to work for at least 1 year since the end of previous leave, will receive 1 week on full basic pay.
Pension Scheme
The scheme provides pension and life assurance. The employee contributes at least 4% and the company contributes 11%.
Physiotherapy
Hunt Physiotherapy provides onsite physiotherapy to Wapping employees who are eligible for outpatient treatment provided they have joined the Private Medical Healthcare scheme.
Private Medical Insurance
News International operates a medical health scheme, and all employees are eligible to join. There is access to quality treatment and high standards of care.
Recommend a Friend
The scheme rewards employees for referring someone to work at News International who becomes permanent.
