Sharon's Leading Woman Accolade

Sharon Hendry has been handpicked in recognition of her personal contribution to society to join 400 women from all walks of life at the lunch on Monday October 17 at the InterContinental Hotel in London.

Her invitation citation reads: ‘Sharon has, for many years, been at the heart of the national and international stories in the most competitive tabloid market in the world. She is invited to recognise her journalist abilities.’

At the lunch, five awards will be presented. The Women of the Year Lunch was founded in 1955 and previous winners include Annie Lennox, Sara Payne, Dame Vera Lynn and Tina Turner.

Sharon said: “I am rather shocked but truly honoured that I’ve been chosen to attend the prestigious Women of the Year lunch. Over the 15 years I’ve worked in tabloids, 13 of those at The Sun, I’ve never failed to wake up each day thinking how very lucky I am to do such a challenging and exciting job. Journalism has taken me round the world and back again and allowed me to meet some truly inspirational people. I am looking forward to meeting a few more on October 17,”
